Every transaction, beautifully kept.

Vellum is the daily ledger for salons — income, expenses, staff commission, stock and clients in one place. Built for the person at the front desk, not for an accountant.

The problem

The salon runs beautifully. The books don't.

Most salons close the day with a notebook, a calculator and a drawer of cash. It works — right up until someone asks a question about last Tuesday.

01

The totals never match

Cash in the drawer, receipts in a pile, a page of scribbled figures. Reconciling the day takes an hour and still ends in a guess.

02

Payday turns into an argument

Commission is recalculated by hand every cut-off. Nobody can show the working, so nobody quite trusts the number.

03

Stock disappears quietly

Colour, developer, retail products — used, sold, or simply gone. Without a count against each sale, shrinkage is invisible.

04

No one knows what earns

Which service actually pays? Which client is worth chasing? The answers exist in the notebook — just not in any usable form.

What's inside

Fourteen modules. One login. No spreadsheets.

Vellum covers the whole day — the sale at the counter, the commission it earns, the stock it consumes, and the record it leaves behind.

Built for the phone in your apron pocket

Vellum isn't a desktop app squeezed onto a small screen. Below 900px the tables become readable cards, the sidebar becomes a drawer, and the modules you use most sit in a thumb-reach tab bar.

  • Log a walk-in between clients, without leaving the chair
  • Eleven-column tables stack into labelled cards — no sideways scrolling
  • Forms open as bottom sheets, sized for one hand
  • Same data, same second — the desk and the phone stay in step
A day in the salon

Open, serve, close — and the books are already done

Vellum is designed around the rhythm of a working day, not around an accounting cycle.

1

The client pays

Pick the service from your own menu, tag the staff member and the client, apply a discount if there is one. Under ten seconds, and the price is already right because it comes from the catalog.

2

Everything updates at once

Commission accrues to the stylist at their rate. Retail stock comes down by one. The client's visit count moves toward their loyalty reward. Nobody re-enters anything anywhere.

3

The day closes itself

Pull the end-of-day commission sheet, check income against the drawer, and the month's report is already building underneath. Export to CSV or PDF whenever the accountant asks.

Who sees what

Three levels of access, and a record of every change

A salon owner shouldn't have to choose between letting the team log their own work and keeping control of the numbers. Vellum gives each person their own login, scoped to what their job needs.

Every create, edit and delete is written to an audit trail you can filter by person, by action and by date — so the question "who changed this?" has an answer.

SuperadminOwner

Everything, plus the audit trail and user management. The owner's view.

AdminManager

Payroll, staff, services, discounts and settings — the day-to-day running of the shop.

StandardFront desk

Entries, history, clients, inventory and commission. No access to payroll or settings.

Fifteen minutes is enough to walk the whole loop — a sale at the counter, the commission it earns, and the report it lands in. Set up with your services and your staff.
